“Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.” -Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, 460-377 BC
I am eating a plant based diet for animals: A vegan diet moves you firmly away from animal cruelty. Living, thinking, feeling beings are kept in appalling conditions and brutally slaughtered to satisfy the meat and dairy industries. Animals on free-range and organic farms do not have a lucky escape: they may still be debeaked, castrated and/or disbudded. Slaughter is inevitable.
I am eating a plant based diet for the planet: With a vegan diet you will have less impact on the rain forests, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and give you a smaller eco-footprint.
I am eating a plant based diet for myself: A well-balanced, whole food vegan diet is up there with the healthiest of diets. It can improve your quality of life and decrease your chances of succumbing to many significant diseases, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some cancers.

Did you know? Eating factory-farmed animals — which is to say virtually every piece of meat sold in supermarkets and prepared in restaurants — is almost certainly the single worst thing that humans do to the environment. Turkeys have been so genetically modified they are incapable of natural reproduction. – Jonathan Safran Foer
